EDIT: By “very, very soon” I guess they mean now. The Classic Wrath beta is live!

Are you excited about the upcoming Classic Wrath of the Lich King expansion for World of Warcraft? Blizzard released some news tidbits on when we might expect to see the game launch recently.

First, there’s news of a buff to XP gained to help people prepare for their adventures in Northrend. In the lead-up to the launch of Classic Wrath, Blizzard “we will implement a global buff that we’re calling “Joyous Journeys” During the time this buff is active, all sources of experience points will award 50% additional XP.”

A timetable for the buff’s activation was not announced, but it’s expected to last for 6-8 weeks. This includes both before the 3.4.0 Pre-Patch goes live, all the way to the day that Classic Wrath launches.

Additionally, Blizzard has essentially eliminated the common practice of boosting characters to prepare for the launch of Wrath of the Lich King. Normally, people would sit in leveling dungeons as a max-level character (usually a mage) runs around and kills all the enemies at once. Despite the discrepancy in levels between characters inside the dungeon, it was an easy and effective way to level with zero effort by the lower-leveled player. Usually, this practice also coincided with real-money transactions, which is against the game’s Terms of Service.

The most important news as we prep for Classic Wrath? It’s this final tidbit from Blizzard:

“We’re really looking forward to players joining us very soon in the Wrath of the Lich King Classic Beta, and hope to be able to share more about that very very soon as well!”

One of the best World of Warcraft expansions released, Wrath of the Lich King Classic is expected to launch within the next few months. The beta for Classic Wrath could go live as early as July, but nothing is official at this time.
