Battlefield 2042 has not had it’s main release yet, but many gamers have already had the chance to play. The most eager players, those who purchased upgraded packages, got access to the game on Friday.
And those reviewers don’t seem to be pleased with the title at all. In fact, Gamerant points out that on Metacritic, the user score currently stands at an atrocious 2.6 out of 10.
There were concerns about the game play prior to the release and they don’t seem to have been fixed.
A big complaint from gamers concerns the new specialist system. This feature allowed players to customize their teams during portal matches. Players are complaining, though, that the feature is making teamwork more difficult.
There are also issues with bugs. And bugs, of course, can be worked out over time. But these particular problems are affecting competitive gameplay and that has users especially upset.
Interestingly enough, critics seem to like the game much more than users do. In fact, which the user score on Metacritic is only at 2.6, the critic score stands at 8.0.
One of the rare negative critic reviews comes from Stevivor. Luke Lawrie writes:
“In a world where developers are getting used to working from home and games are being pushed back due to the global pandemic, EA decided that Battlefield 2042 was ready for this year. It’s not. More time is needed to fix a lot of the problems, but even then that might not be enough to save it from being one of the most lacklustre Battlefield titles yet.”
