The grind for Destiny 2’s endgame is real. If you want the good stuff so that you can deal high damage in raids, you’re going to want to upgrade your armor. So, how do you upgrade armor? Well, you grind Ascendant shards. This currency is the primary way for you to get value out of your armor pieces. And, with better armor, you put out better damage. So, if you’re wondering how you can get this upgrade unit, you’ve come to the right place!
How to Get Ascendant Shards in Destiny 2
You can get Ascendant Shards by purchasing them from Banshee-44, ranking up the Season Pass, or completing any ordeal dungeon on Master or Hero Difficulty. There are additional ways of getting the shards, but most of them require you to farm different ordeals on higher difficulties. So, focus on ways to get materials to Banshee-44.
The Season Pass gives you an Ascendant Shard at Level 80. That’s completely free, as long as you’ve gotten the Season Pass and are playing fairly often. If you’re willing to pay up (since the shard is a paid pass benefit), then you’ll get at least one shard without much effort!
Banshee-44 requires ten Enchantment Prisms, 100 Planetary Materials, and 50,000 Glimmer to get one shard. That’s a lot! It can be an expensive purchase for you, so make sure you find good ways to farm enchantment prisms and glimmer. You might also need to farm planet bounties, which should help your glimmer problem too.
The Hero and Master ordeals both drop fantastic loot for you. They tend to drop Enchantment Prisms, so you’ll have to give Banshee-44 less of your glimmer. Farm these ordeals as much as you can! If you can do hero ordeals, those will be more common than Master ones… Though both difficulties will slowly but surely net you shards!
If you’re looking for more, farm the Pit of Heresy. This dungeon is easy to farm weekly, and the boss drops guaranteed masterworked armor. Degrade that, and that’ll get you six cores and six prisms. If you farm that on multiple characters, you can get shards really fast, and the dungeon in general gets you a ton of loot.
