There are many different rooms that players can build in Dragon Quest Builders 2, including the Playful Park. The Builder’s progressive journey in the Isle of Awakening and beyond requires you to assemble rooms an assortment of items. And, naturally, they all hold a special purpose when the time comes to putting together rooms.
One of these is less of a “room” and more of a park, though. Complete with its own blueprint, the Playful Park task is given to players once they revisit Clayton after completing the Furrowfield Island. But how can you go about this, and how can you attach a Petting Zoo to the park? Here is how to build both of these rooms in Dragon Quest Builders 2.
How To Build A Playful Park
After completing the Furrowfield Island, players can return to the island to visit Clayton, who will give them instructions on building a Playful Park. While he does share the materials needed to build the room, it’s not quite clear how players can go about putting it together.
As a reminder from Clayton, you’ll need four different items to build a Playful Park in Dragon Quest Builders 2. The room recipe can be seen in the list below.
- Bench x2
- Flowers x2
- Tree Swing Set (x1 Tree, x1 Swing)
- Wooden plank pathway x2
If you’re running low on funds, you can sell extra items at the item shop.
The Confusion With ‘Room’
Despite its rather simple recipe, a lot of players are still having trouble getting Clayton to accept their Petting Zoo. The confusion here likely comes from the definition of what a “room” is in Dragon Quest Builders 2.
When the phrase “room” is used in the game, it means that the structure must have both walls and doors. Since Clayton tasks you with building a Playful Park, a lot of players are naturally assuming that it can be an open space. However, the Playful Park is still considered a room, which means it must have walls and a door to count.
Even though it’s a vital aspect of the game, generating a single room acts as a foundation for the Builder’s fantasy adventure. A room merely consists of a two-block high wall structure within a selected farming/building space, complete with a door to finish the job.
Not all of the structures in the game are considered rooms, so you’ll want to look for the Room Icon when you’re building a structure. This will help players determine what is needed for a specific structure. If you don’t see the icon, then you won’t necessarily need walls and a door for it to count. However, if the Room Icon is there, then you’ll need walls and a door every time.
How to Build A Petting Zoo
Furry friends of Furrowfield and the other islands will also need a place to hang out and catch some sun. The Well-Stocked Bar is certainly one of the best rooms in Dragon Quest Builders 2, but it’s not the only choice. The Petting Zoo also provides such a service, and it’s most likely already halfway built if you got yourself a Playful Park. What’s needed now is an Animal House.
Only three items are required to erect an Animal House. Here are the items you need to use:
- Pet Bedding x1
- Pet Bowl x1
- Haystack x1
Build this garden-based structure alongside the Playful Park. This will combine the two rooms into one: the Petting Zoo. The Petting Zoo’s icon is distinguishable by the cow head in front of a golden shield.
You can then tend to other activities and tasks when the construction is finished. Just be sure to have plenty of space before and as you build something for yourself and the villagers.
Expert Tip
Be extra mindful of specific resources, since some may refer to one item instead of several. The Wall Hanging is one prime example.
In addition, you should always check for Room confirmation when the game highlights the squared spaces accompanying a complete Room. If there is no highlight, you will have to move a few structures and items around.
