Jon Gruden is no longer the Head Coach for the Las Vegas Raiders and now the former NFL coach and recently revealed bigot is also being scrubbed from EA Sports’ Madden 22.

It was discovered in the past week that Gruden was making racist, homophobic and misogynistic comments in emails, a reveal that quickly led to calls for Gruden’s firing. Soon after the emails were revealed, he resigned from his position.

Among Gruden’s many horrible emails, according to the New York Times, he said women shouldn’t be referees and denounced the NFL draft for allowing a gay player to be picked. He also blasted players who protested during the national anthem.

Some of Gruden’s worst offenses were geared towards NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, including the worse of yet another homophobic slur.

From the New York Times:

In numerous emails during a seven-year period ending in early 2018, Gruden criticized Goodell and the league for trying to reduce concussions and said that Eric Reid, a player who had demonstrated during the playing of the national anthem, should be fired. In several instances, Gruden used a homophobic slur to refer to Goodell and offensive language to describe some N.F.L. owners, coaches and journalists who cover the league.

It didn’t take long for EA Sports to announced that only a “likeness” to Jon Gruden will now appear in Madden 22.

EA Sports says it will take a few weeks to remove Gruden from the game at which point “a generic likeness” will be used in his place.

The statement from EA Sports reads:

EA SPORTS IS COMMITTED TO TAKING ACTION IN MAINTAINING A CULTURE OF INCLUSION AND EQUITY. DUE TO THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF JON GRUDEN’S RESIGNATION, WE ARE TAKING STEPS TO REMOVE HIM FROM MADDEN NFL 22. WE WILL REPLACE HIM WITH A GENERIC LIKENESS VIA A TITLE UPDATE IN THE COMING WEEKS.

Here’s the actual tweet regarding Jon Gruden’s removal from Madden 22:

Good riddance.
