Endwalker Launch Server Congestion Addressed by Square Enix

The start of a new MMO or its expansion is always a busy time. Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker will be no exception.

Developer Square Enix released a statement regarding plans to address these congestion and anticipated server issues.

Since the launch of a new expansion is when a large number of players will be playing for extended periods of time, we are expecting far more simultaneous logins compared to usual. Furthermore, following a dramatic increase in the player base in all regions since this summer, we are currently experiencing record numbers of active users, and therefore are expecting a number of logins that is yet to be seen since the launch of FFXIV.

Square Enix admits that there is a “high likelihood of congestion that will result in Worlds reaching maximum login capacity and lengthy wait times when logging in.” They apologize in advance for any issues that arise with the release of Endwalker.

They also stated that even though new servers weren’t created, they “have implemented every other measure that was possible” to address any potential issues.

The blog post discusses further additional issues expected to arise when Endwalker releases. These issues include, but are not limited to, login wait times, character creation, automatic logouts, the “Error 2002” message, and more.

Those that are having issues during their Endwalker experience are instructed to keep an eye on official Lodestone announcements. In addition, Twitter handles @FF_XIV_EN and @FFXIV_NEWS_EN will provide updates as well.

Endwalker, the newest expansion for Final Fantasy XIV, will launch on December 7 for Windows, Mac, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
