Endwalker, the latest Final Fantasy 14 expansion, is out now. It’s the fourth expansion to the Final Fantasy MMORPG, which first launched in 2013. Is Endwalker the Last Final Fantasy 14 Expansion?
Good news, Final Fantasy 14 fans: Endwalker is definitely not the game’s last expansion. Instead, it’s just the final expansion in this current iteration of the game’s storyline. However, that doesn’t mean it’s the end. In fact, there’s still plenty more to come.
This was confirmed by the official FF14 Twitter account itself. With Endwalker, “the end of one story always leads to the beginning of another,” they say. That’s confirmation that there will be future expansions, to allay any concerns that the game will no longer be supported going forward.
Of course, it’s understandable while fans were confused. The base Endwalker expansion ties up the existing Final Fantasy 14 plot. However, upcoming Endwalker patches are due to add further story content, too. These will start a brand-new plot line within the game, which future expansions continuing this story. We don’t yet know what that narrative will be, but it’s certain that the game will continue for a long while.
Those future expansions may be quite a way off, but it’s good to know that FF14 isn’t going anywhere. Given the success of Endwalker, with server queues in the thousands, it would be foolish for Square Enix to give up now. As such, Endwalker is far from the last expansion, and fans should be able to enjoy the game for years to come.
