Fans of the Final Fantasy franchise have been clamoring for news regarding the second part of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Thankfully, some information could be on the horizon.
While Square Enix has teased that Final Fantasy 16 is in the final stages of development, we haven’t heard much regarding the next entry in the remake of one of the best Final Fantasy games.
According to Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s director Tetsuya Nomura, they will have “various” announcements to share in June. According to Video Games Chronicle, these announcements would connect to the “25th anniversary of Final Fantasy 7.” The game’s anniversary was this past January.
“Next month, we’re planning to publish information related to 7’s 25th anniversary,” Nomura said. “I wonder how [much] I’m allowed to share about it. Next month we will publish various things.”
The news came in a live stream regarding the mobile battle royale game, Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier. Many are hopeful it is regarding the next installment of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, but it’s not a guarantee. The news could be about the upcoming mobile game Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis. The announcement could even be a merch drop or something else less exciting.
The last news we heard was that Naoki Hamaguchi, co-director of the first part of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, was taking over with full directing duties for the second installment. Nomura will continue to contribute to the game, though.
