Fortnite - How to Thank Bus Driver

Dropping onto the Island in Fortnite welcomes action-packed violence and cheesy gimmicks where it all becomes more than just a game. Teaming up with your friends and then collecting the best loot in hopes of achieving Victory Royale always brings players back, even if it’s just for one match. Regardless, no matter who is on your squad, there’s been one person we’ve always counted on since Season 5 of Fortnite. The one individual who has flown us to the Island day in and day out. That person is the Bus Driver, and today we explain how to share our gratitude for this invisible NPC.

Thanking the Bus Driver has no gameplay benefits, for its only purpose is to express appreciation for the person behind the wheel. If you’re using a controller, the default button to thank the bus driver is ‘down’ on the D-pad. This includes PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch controllers. For the PC crowd using a mouse & keyboard, press the ‘B’ key. Mobile users can use the emote button on their screen in this case. Be sure to thank the driver before jumping out of the Battle Bus. You won’t be able to do so once you’ve left the flying vehicle.

This is all a kind gesture that was born from a change.org petition. Kody Keddie initiated the movement back in 2018, stating that something was “missing” whenever he jumped from the Battle Bus. The petition was simply titled, “Add the ability to thank the bus driver before jumping out of the battle bus in Fortnite.” Evidently, this garnered significant attention from players who began to flock to the website so they could sign. Epic Games eventually heard about the request, thus implementing the feature we all know and love.

However, thanking the driver is also one of the milestones in your quests. The basic practice is to thank them before jumping out, which ultimately creates a habit for your fingers to refer to. It’s easy to remember this when every player’s name pops up on the left side of the screen before the action ensues. Plus, it’s a trouble-free act that rewards you with XP the more that you do it.
