Get ready for plenty of exciting announcements, as we break down all the news from Gamescom Opening Night Live 2021, as it’s unveiled.

Saints Row Announcement Trailer

The event’s first trailer takes place in a vibrant American South-West landscape, as a group of career criminals witness a deal gone wrong. It leads into the reveal that this is the long-awaited Saints Row reboot. Complete with bloody shootouts, exhilarating car chases and plenty of action, this cinematic trailer bodes well for the game’s eventual release. The fictional setting is Santo Leso, which they call “the biggest and best Saints Row playground” yet. We’ll miss Johnny Gat, though.

It looks very different from the original four games, with less gangster-based action, but it’s certainly an exciting release. The trailer also confirms a release date in the near future. It’ll launch on February 22, 2022.

We also get a brief look at some gameplay after the cinematic trailer. We see brutal gunfights, neon-inflected battlegrounds, and some impressive vehicles, too. It’s a brief glimpse though – but you can be sure there will be more in the future, leading up to release.

We then get a look at the characters in action, with Wolverine brandishing his trademark claws, and Ghost Ride using his fiery whips. Instead, it starts with a stealthy escape from a house brimming with soldiers. We then get to see the main character, Polina, using a shotgun to blast away enemies, with some intriguing environmental damage effects. She later procures a sniper rifle, escaping from the house with countless enemies on the floor. From there it’s non-stop action, with molotov cocktails, poison glass, and machine gun fire.
