Madden 22 Franchise Has Not Been Cancelled

Following reports that the Madden 22 Franchise mode will stop receiving updates, IGN has reported that the story is not true.

The original story, from Sports Gamers Online, stated that sources close to the development revealed that the remaining two in-season updates were scrapped. Word was that future updates to the Madden 22 Franchise mode were canceled to move team members to the in-development EA Sports College Football game.

Through a statement to IGN, EA Sports denied that, however.

We do not like to comment on rumors or speculation; however, we are committed to continuing to improve Franchise as a part of our ongoing Madden NFL 22 live service and beyond. This includes two upcoming Franchise updates that we’ll deliver in Madden NFL 22. We will have more details on the updates in the new year.

It should be noted that Executive Producer Seann Graddy told IGN that the content roadmap this year was “slightly less ambitious than years past.” Perhaps this was the fuel for speculation regarding the cancellation of updates for the game mode.
