We’re never getting a new Mario Kart game. Ever. It’s all because of the fact that Mario Kart 8 continues to sell like hotcakes.
Per a report from GamesIndustry.biz, the popular Nintendo Switch game sold over two million copies in the UK. This is an increase in units old of 567%. It undoubtedly helps that there was a Switch/Mario Kart 8 bundle available for Black Friday deals.
It should be noted too that the charts only include physical copies. Digital sales are not factored in as well.
Mario Kart 8’s success in sales isn’t limited to just Black Friday. Per the NPD Group, it’s one of the top ten selling games of 2021 period.
The game, originally released for the Wii U in 2014 and remastered for the Nintendo Switch in 2017, is holding its own with other juggernauts of the year.
