Ever since the Minecraft Village and Pillage update, several new features were added to the game. However, one of the most notable new additions is the crossbow, which can be used to hunt down all kinds of creatures. That said, in this guide, we are going to show you how to make a crossbow in Minecraft and more.
How to Make a Crossbow in Minecraft
If you want to make a crossbow in Minecraft, the first thing you are going to need to do is make a crafting table if you haven’t already. You can craft a table by putting four wood planks in the pattern shown above. When you have that complete, you can craft a crossbow with the following materials:
- 1 Tripwire Hook
- 1 Iron Ingot
- 2 String
- 3 Sticks
Once you gather these materials, put them in the pattern as shown in the image below to craft the bow. From there you can drag the weapon into your inventory to use at your leisure. If you don’t have all of the necessary materials or need more, keep reading for explanations about where to find them.
Starting with the tripwire hook, all you need is an Iron Ingot, a stick, and a wooden plank. After gathering these put them in the pattern as shown below.
Moving on, to get Iron Ingots you’re going to need to find some Iron ore. So, grab a pickaxe and head to a cavern or start digging yourself a mine. As a side note, I personally believe going to a cavern will be the fastest method, but it’s up to you! 
With the Iron in hand, head back to your home and put it in a furnace with some coal as shown in the image below to craft the ingots. 
The item strings can be looted from various dungeons in the game like some other items in this guide. But the quickest and easiest way to get string is to just kill cave and normal spiders, so get spider hunting! 
The final item, sticks, is perhaps the easiest to gather up as all you need to do is chop some trees down. After chopping some trees, take the logs and make them into planks by placing them in your crafting table. Put the planks in the same pattern as the image below and you’ll be good to go.
By now you should have all the required materials needed to craft a crossbow. So grab some arrows and get to hunting!
