Monster Hunter Mobile Game Announced By Capcom and Timi Studio Group

One of the biggest challenges in gaming is trying to translate a huge world to a mobile device. Yet, plenty of studios are up to the challenge. The Monster Hunter series depends on powerful tech, but now it will be trying to bring its scale to mobile. This popular series has come a long way since its first appearance, and it’s now a highly popular online game for solo and group play. Considering just how much the Monster Hunter games have to offer, trying to create a mobile version is a difficult endeavor. Fortunately, Capcom has partnered with a big name in the mobile development community. Here’s what we know about the new release so far.

Monster Hunter Goes Mobile With Timi Studio Group

The very first Monster Hunter game came out in 2004 for the PlayStation 2 and immediately gained an audience. People’s love for slaying giant monsters continues into the recent Monster Hunter Rise of 2021. And, of course, now a mobile entry is in the works.

The studio at the head of the project is Tencent’s Timi Studio Group, most notable for creating the MOBA game Pokemon Unite. The game continues to receive praise for its scale and functionality, so it makes sense that Tencent would be considered to tackle Monster Hunter. As highlighted by Eurogamer, the project is aiming to give players “the freedom to hunt as they desire, anytime, and anywhere.”

Capcom has a lot of IPs under its belt, and Monster Hunter is one of the most successful. The premise is simple a lot but gives way to a world full of lore and history. Players take on the role of hunters arriving in a mysterious world full of large hulking beasts, or monsters. Stories tend to revolve around the monsters becoming overly aggressive or threatening to destroy the land due to some unknown provocation. Missions task players alone or in groups to study and hunt different monsters in order to determine the route of the problem. As the mobile game details come into being, it’s likely that hunting on the go will be at its core.

Monster Hunter is about hunting huge monsters in fantastical worlds but has always been restricted to powerful consoles and PCs. As a response, Pokemon Unite‘s Tencent is working on a mobile game so players can hunt on the go.
