From its humble beginnings as an online bookseller, Amazon has now grown into a massive multi-media giant. On top of making Jeff Bezos one of the richest men in the world, the company has delved into movies, television, and video games.

The biggest project from Amazon Games Studios has been New World, an MMORPG developed and published by the company and released in September 2021.

Unfortunately for Amazon, the title has been beset with problems. On the night of its release, there was a huge server issue with long queue times and limited capacity. There was also an issue where players were able to duplicate their gold stash. New World’s creators worked hard on fixing that bug.

But the gold problem is far from fixed. Rather than preventing players from duplicating their gold stash, the servers are now giving players on an EU server up to 300,000 pieces of gold.

The company is aware of the issue, tweeting, “We are currently investigating an issue with player coin compensation and had to take the EU Central region into maintenance mode. We apologize for the inconvenience. EU servers are back up! We know its been chaotic… we can explain… Thank you for your patience and get back into Aeternum!”

As of right now, Amazon has been able to fix the issue and servers are back up again. Time will tell, however, how long it will be until New World encounters another issue.
