Establishing a working base on the Palpagos Islands in Palworld requires consistent labor and attention. It’s the primary location where players can build, cook, and evolve as they progress through Palworld’s narrative. As they construct new stations to fuel specific resources, Palworld explorers need kindling to heat a few things.
However, first-time adventurers might be a little lost when understanding kindling in Palworld. Upon erecting a fire station, kindling will be required, as per the elemental prompt that appears on the base. Therefore, only a few gameplay aspects should come to mind when handling fire.
How to Use Kindling in Palworld
The kindling is a Pal ability in Palworld that can power several fire stations at a base. To apply kindling to the Campfire (Technology Tier 2) and Cooking Pot (Technology Tier 17), players must assign a Pal with the fiery ability via the Palbox. By doing this, the Pals will automatically conduct work in areas that require an inferno touch. In addition to the Cooking Pot and Campfire, Pals with kindling talent can ignite the Primitive Furnace (Technology Tier 10) as they advance through the game.
Over 20 unique Pals can administer kindling for the stations mentioned above. Most players will likely encounter Arsox, Flambelle, and Foxparks early on in the game. Assigning these Pals to your base will suffice if they have the fiery talent in their Work Suitability. Other Pals that can serve the purpose include Blazehowl, Boltmane, Ragnahawk, and more.
By accessing the Pal Management Menu at the Palbox, select a Pal with the campfire logo highlighted with red/orange as part of its Work Suitability. Once you have one picked out, move it into the “Pals at the base” section at the bottom in an open slot. From there, they’ll drop onto the base, ready to work, eat food, sleep, and defend.
As aforementioned, they’ll automatically head to a station that needs kindling. If they’re working on something else, lift them and toss them into the direction of the station requiring some fire. This will ensure they work on a designated task without getting distracted by something else at the base.
Expert Tip
Mounted Torches can be ignited by the player or a Pal with the kindling skill. They’re a solid source of light that dramatically increase the player’s ability see and operate at night. The Palpagos Islands can be challenging to see when it gets dark out. Therefore, craft Mounted Torches and Wall Torches to provide sufficient light for you and your Pals.
Kindling Pals can get stressed, much like any other Pal who’s been ordered to work at the base. Remember to include multiple fiery creatures in your collection when you need to swap out a Pal or two as your base enhances. Keeping an eye on their SAN levels is a mindful approach to maintaining stability with your Pals, though some can easily overlook this.
Finally, the fire stations can provide heat for Incubators and meals ready for a hot touch. Whenever a flame is applied, the fire will burn on for a certain period without needing the attention of a fiery Pal. An example of this is the Campfire, which can automatically cook meals that sit in the queue. It’s an excellent way to serve up some tasty dinners for yourself and your Pals without relying on raw berries and eggs. Just be sure not to step in the Campfire, as it’s easy for your character to start burning up if they enter the flames.
