It won’t take long into the experience in Palworld for players to realize they’ll need leather for a few purposes. Leather is a defensive material players can weave into creating armor and accessories for their Pals. However, not every Pal will yield the resource, and the Paldeck won’t inform the players which ones to look out for. Fortunately, the Palpagos Islands is home to many Pals who can generate leather.

It’s all a matter of knowing who can produce leather and how you, the players, can obtain some. Unlike other materials on the islands, leather can easily be acquired in the same vein as Pal organs and Pal Fluids. And so, it’s best to repair those broken weapons, for it’s time to do some hunting in Palworld.

Leather is dropped by captured (with a Pal Sphere), killed, or slaughtered (with a Meat Cleaver) Pals who typically spawn the material upon their capture/demise in Palworld. A wide range of Pals can provide the material in question, with over 30 unique creatures to think of. Direhowls, Eikthyrdeers, Foxparks, Melpacas, and Rushoars are among the easiest ways to get leather. Foxcicles, Mammorests, Mossanda Luxes, and Pyrin Nocts are some of the Pals that are better interacted with later in the game.

Alternatively, players can purchase leather by visiting a merchant who works on one of the islands in Palworld. A few are stationed throughout the Palpagos Islands, yet they’re usually found in the Small Settlement. These merchants can sell the player one leather item for 150 Gold, so save up on your currency before you conduct a transaction. A single bundle weighs 2, making it a relatively light material.

Expert Tip

Don’t worry about filling up your Palbox with Pals who might not be utilized for anything in the game. Since leather costs 150 Gold a piece, you can always sell unwanted Pals at a Pal Merchant for some Gold.

Leather is primarily used to build armor sets and unique Pal accessories together. From mountable saddles and gloves to cold and heat-resistant armors, here’s a list of items that players can create with leather:

  • Arsox Saddle (Technology Tier 16)
  • Daedream’s Necklace (Technology Tier 8)
  • Galeclaw’s Gloves (Technology Tier 23)
  • Hangyu’s Gloves (Technology Tier 31)
  • Vanwyrm Saddle (Technology Tier 21)
  • Metal Armor (Technology Tier 23)
  • Pelt Armor (Technology Tier 12)
  • Pal Metal Armor (Technology Tier 46)
  • Leather Chair Set (Technology Tier 39)

Many of the listed armors come with cold and heat-based variants to weather the freezing and hot temperatures on the Palpagos Islands. As such, this makes leather a vital asset to utilize when it comes to forging armor and add-ons for your Pals. Moreover, there are loads of other Pal accessories that you can unlock via the Technology menu. You’ll need to know about the Pals first before anyone can start crafting their unique add-ons.

If you’re looking for a decent area to farm leather, try your hand at the Bridge of the Twin Knights fast travel point. The area is home to Direhowls and Melpacas, both included in the list above. This is a promising way to obtain vast amounts of the material quickly. Other areas on the Galapagos Islands can significantly yield the durable material in question; there’s no doubt about that. However, the Bridge of the Twin Knights is an excellent spot to swiftly muster up leather for your armor sets and Pal attachments.
