Rockstar Comments on Issues with Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition

To call Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition a technical mess would be an understatement. The game is currently sitting at a 58 on Metacritic thanks to a slew of issues that have upset critics and fans alike. We additionally reported on the issues ourselves a week ago when the game first launched. Finally, a week after the game’s launch, Rockstar has responded.

Of note is the fact that they will be bringing back the original forms of the game to the Rockstar Store. Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City, and San Andreas will be available as a bundle “shortly.” Anyone who purchased The Definitive Edition will receive these games for free through June 30, 2022.

In addition, updates are planned to address the technical issues plaguing the game. The first of which is due within the “coming days” for all platforms.

A summary of the statement is available below.

Firstly, we want to sincerely apologize to everyone who has encountered issues playing these games…

The updated versions of these classic games did not launch in a state that meets our own standards of quality, or the standards our fans have come to expect.

We have ongoing plans to address the techhnical issues and to improve each game going forward. With each planned update, the games will reach the level of quality that they deserve to be…

In the mean time, it pains us to mention that we are hearing reports of members of the development teams being harassesd on scoial media. We would kindly ask our community to please maintain a respectful and civil discourse around this release as we work through these isues…

One again, we’d like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding…
