Over the last 18 months, a number of prominent games have had their release date pushed back. There are a number of reasons for this. COVID, of course, kept plenty of employees out of the office and has wreaked havoc on the supply chain. And wanting avoid the bad press that comes along with releasing a buggy game, developers want to make sure all the bugs and kinks are out before the title drops.
But in a pleasant bit of news, Sifu, the kung-fu action game being worked on by Sloclap, has announced they are pushing their release date to February 8th. At first, Sloclap hoped to release the game by the end of 2021, but later changed the date to February 22nd.
The developer also added a press release with more information about the game. It read in part:
“Sifu’s unique visual style promises a smooth 60fps across both platforms so players can get the most detailed look at the carnage they will reap upon their enemies. Players must be focused, fast, and skilled with their attacks to succeed in their quest, but building a great defense through mastering pushbacks, knockdowns, and stuns is just as important in combat. Attacks and parries open opportunities to strike efficiently once an enemy is knocked off balance, but careless players can be caught off guard during enemy attacks and lose their balance.”
There also might be some strategy to moving the date up. February is going to be a hot month for games. This new date allows Sifu to be released ahead of Horizon: Forbidden West and Destiny 2: The Witch Queen.
Sifu will be available on PC, Playstation 4, and Playstation 5
