All Fish Bundles in Stardew Valley

All Fish Bundles in Stardew Valley

The Community Center is a critical part of Stardew Valley. Without it, or alternatively enlisting in the capitalist Joja Community Development Form, you can’t make meaningful progress through the game. So, completing the various tasks in it quickly and effectively is going to be a major obstacle in making you money. Stardew Valley’s Fish Bundles are not must-completes, but completing them lets you access a very important area. Let’s go over what each bundle entails!

Looking forward to clearing out some of these bundles? The River Fish Bundle, Lake Fish Bundle, and Ocean Fish Bundle should be your first targets.

As an important note, this guide will go over Fish Bundles that are part of the Standard Game, as well as the Remixed Bundle options. These are optional bundles that can be randomly put in the Community Center as part of an advanced rule.

Unlocking the Fish Tank

Before you can start honing your fishing rod and start completing Fish Bundles in Stardew Valley, you’ll have to unlock the Fish Tank. To get it, you need to complete your first bundle in the Community Center. Most of the first bundles will be in the Crafts Room, so complete whichever one you like in there. The Tank itself looks broken down and old, and will spawn in the top-right corner of the Center’s main room.

Thankfully, that one bundle is all you need. Once the Fish Tank is around, you can check your progress towards the various bundles by hitting the small tree below it. While you complete bundles, the tank will become more and more fleshed out. Soon, it’ll be as good as new!

This decrepit old fish tank is what you'll need to fix before getting your bundles together.

River Fish Bundle

The first group of Fish can be found in River regions, such as the ones just below the forest. They can also be found in the Riverlands Farm, Hill-Top Farm, or the Forest Farm, if you select an alternative Farm type. As long as there isn’t a beach or shore in sight, other than a Riverbed, you’re set to catch these fellas!

You’ll get 30 Bait for completing this bundle.

Sunfish

The Sunfish is a fish that spawns in sunny weather during the Spring and Summer. You can catch one between 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Catfish

Catfish can be found in River biomes from 6 a.m. to 12 a.m. during Spring and Fall, but only during the Rain. Alternatively, you can go to the Secret Woods or in the Witch’s Swamp to catch them, in which case it can be found any season while it is raining. However, in order to make it rain during the Winter, you will need a Rain Totem.

Shad

Shads can be found in Rivers during any season except the Winter, and only during Rainy days. You can catch one from 9 a.m. to 2 a.m.

Tiger Trout

From 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., you’ll find Tiger Trout in River biomes. However, they only show up during the Fall and Winter.

Lake Fish Bundle

Sadly, unlike their River Fish brethren, Lake Fish have no definite homes. You’ll have to explore the several lakes in Stardew Valley, such as the Mountain Lake, in order to collect them all.

You’ll get a Dressed Spinner for clearing this Bundle.

Largemouth Bass

You can find this fish in the Mountain Lake from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Largemouth Bass populates only the Mountain Lake, but you can find them during any season.

Carp

Carps are a bit weird. You can get them anytime, as long as it isn’t Winter, in the Mountain Lake or the Cindersap Forest Pond. You can also fish one out of the Sewer or the water of the Secret Woods during any season and at any time.

Bullhead

Bullhead can be fished out of the Mountain Lake during any time of the day and throughout any season.

Sturgeon

Sturgeon are found in the Mountain Lake between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m., during the Summer and Winter seasons.

Ocean Fish Bundle

Creatures in the Ocean Fish Bundle can be fished out of anywhere where there’s a beach, such as the Southernmost part of Pelican Town or on a Beach Farm. They can also be found on Ginger Island’s four beaches, though some fish are more picky than others.

Completing this bundle will reward you with the Warp Totem: Beach item. You’ll have five of them.

Sardine

Sardine can be found in any season except Summer in the Ocean. They’ll appear from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Tuna

Tuna are on the beach from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. during the Summer and Winter seasons. However, on Ginger Island, you can catch them on any shore except the Northern one. If you do this, you can catch them during any season from 6 a.m. through 7 p.m.

Red Snapper

The Red Snapper can be fished from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., just like the Tuna. However, you’ll only catch these during Summer and Fall, and only during rain.

Tilapia

The Tilapia fish can only be caught from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on beaches during the Summer and Fall. On Ginger Island, you can catch them during any season on the West or North shores. If you fish on the West shore, you must fish above the plank bridge, in the Pond and River sections.

Expert Tip

During any season where you can catch a specified fish, you can also usually find them randomly in garbage cans around Pelican Town. While this is not as likely to succeed as finding the location where you are likely to catch the fish, it can net you a few extra copies of a fish or let you get a Fish, like the Octopus, that is otherwise very hard to catch. This also means you can sometimes get a fish outside of its usual weather restrictions, like the Eel.

You can also randomly find almost any fish during any season, even seasons when you can’t catch them, on the Traveling Cart.

Night Fishing Bundle

Time for a few darker, and more difficult, bundles with the Night Fishing, Crab Pot, and Specialty Fish Bundles!

The Night Fishing bundle is when the fish get a bit more difficult to grab. They’re also on a very tight schedule, so move quick!

Completing the Night Fishing Bundle will net you a Small Glow Ring.

Walleye

Walleyes can be caught from 12 p.m. to 2 a.m. in the Fall while raining, only in Rivers, the Mountain Lake, the Forest Pond, and the Forest Farm’s Pond. You can catch them in the Winter with a Rain Totem.

Bream

During any season, you can catch a Bream from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. in the Rivers of Pelican Town or Cindersap Forest.

Eel

The Eel is a Beach and Beach Farm fish that can be caught during the Spring or Fall from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. It has to be raining to catch them.

Crab Pot Bundle

The Crab Pot Bundle features a smorgasbord of fish that can primarily be caught in titular Crab Pots. This is the fish bundle with the most options, though they are all caught using a similar method.

Completing it will reward you with three Crab Pots.

Lobster

Lobsters are caught in the Ocean using a Crab Pot.

Crayfish

Crayfish are caught in freshwater locations, such as ponds or lakes, using a Crab Pot.

Crab

Crabs are caught in the Ocean using a Crab Pot. They can also be dropped from Rock Crabs or Lava Crabs that are killed in the Mines.

Cockle

Cockles are caught in the Ocean in a Crab Pot, and can also be foraged from the Beach.

Mussel

Mussels are caught in the Ocean in a Crab Pot, and can also be foraged from the Beach.

Shrimp

Shrimp are caught in the Ocean in a Crab Pot.

Snail

Catch Snails in freshwater locations using a Crab Pot.

Periwinkle

Periwinkles are found in freshwater with Crab Pots.

Oyster

Oysters can be found on the beach itself or by using a Crab Pot in an ocean biome.

Clam

Clams can be caught in crab pots in the Ocean or foraged off of the beach.

Specialty Fish Bundle

Specialty Fish are both harder to find and have strange requirements than other bundles.

Completing this bundle gives you five Dish O’ The Sea meals. If you are on the Remixed Bundle rules, you only get one.

Pufferfish

You can fish a Pufferfish out of the ocean from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., but only during a Sunny Day. However, on Ginger Island, you can catch it on Ginger Island’s West, South, Southeast, and Pirate Cove locations during the same time period during Sunny Days. If you are fishing on Ginger Island’s West Beach, you must fish on the actual beach, to the south of the bridge.

Ghostfish

These spooky fish can be fished on the 20th and 60th floor of the mines at anytime. Ghosts occasionally drop them as well.

Sandfish

Sandfish requires Desert access, as you can only fish it out of the Pond of the Desert from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thankfully, it can be fished during any season. However, you will either need to complete the Vault or get lucky with the Traveling Merchant to complete this bundle due to this fish.

Woodskip

A Woodskip can be fished out of the Secret Woods or the Forest Farm at any time. It has a low chance of being found on the Forest Farm, making the Secret Woods significantly more reliable.

Quality Fish Bundle

These two bundles – the Quality Fish and Master Fisher's Bundles – only exist during the Remixed Bundle ruleset.

The Quality Fish bundle requires the Largemouth Bass, Shad, Tuna, and Walleye drops that we’ve detailed in previous entries. However, they each need to be at Gold Star quality. You will want to improve your Fishing skill and get Perfect catches if you want to complete this bundle quickly.

Completing this bundle will get you one Dish O’ The Sea.

Master Fisher’s Bundle

The Master Fisher’s Bundle only needs 2 Fish, but requires you to catch some of the rarest Fish in the game. These fish rarely, if ever, spawn in the Traveling Cart.

Completing this bundle will get you one Dish O’ The Sea.

Lava Eel

The Lava Eel can be found on the 100th floor of the Mines or in the Volcano Caldera map.

Scorpion Carp

Scorpion Carp are found in the Desert Pond from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. during any season. However, it is very difficult to catch and requires at least Fishing Level 4 in order to spawn in the first place.

Octopus

The Octopus can be found in the Ocean during the Summer Season from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. It can also be caught during the deep-sea submarine ride during Winter 15-17, though this is at a very low chance. You can catch it during any season on Ginger Island’s West Coast. Pack your Iridium Rod, because this one’s a fighter.

Blobfish

The Blobfish can be caught during the Night Market’s Submarine Ride during Winter 15-17. Use a Curiosity Lure to improve your chances to find them. Alternatively, with Magic Bait, you can head to the southwest corner (on the left-most pier) and fish facing to the west for a low chance to hook the ugly fella.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Fishing Level change what fish you catch?

For most fish, Fishing Level does not alter what fish are available in a given area. It only influences Legendary Fish and the Scorpion Carp, which require a specific fishing level to access in the first place.

Can you make fishing easier?

Yes, by using food that improves your Fishing, such as Chowder or Fish Stew. Better bait and lures can make the fish easier to catch as well.

Can you put any item in a bundle in any order?

Yes, if the item belongs to a bundle in Stardew Valley, you can place them in whatever order you want. In addition, if the bundle has more options than slots, you may choose what items you place in the bundle, as long as they are different. If the bundle does not have a specified quality, then you can place any quality of item into the bundle.
