During the Major League Baseball offseason, the New York Mets installed a massive scoreboard. It’s 62% bigger than the previous scoreboard, measuring 54 feet tall and 105 feet wide. It’s one of the ten biggest scoreboards in the entire league.
The team booted it up for the first time and tested it out in the best possible way: with a game of Mario Kart.
The game of choice from the New York Mets’ social media team is Mario Kart 64. They’re racing on Toad’s Turnpike. Sadly, the game’s audio isn’t playing through the stadium speakers. We can only imagine how epic that would sound.
Steve Cohen, the owner of the Mets, is pleased with the new scoreboard.
“I wanted a bigger scoreboard,” he said earlier this month. “It looks like I got what I wanted.”
After mentioning that he had to squint at the older scoreboard, Cohen won’t have that problem anymore. The real question now is what character he’d choose in Mario Kart.
As you can imagine, social media is thrilled with the Mets.
Sadly, I wouldn’t hold your breath for the opportunity to play Mario Kart at Citi Field.
