Over the last decade or so, the DC movie releases have lagged far behind their Marvel Comics counterparts. While Marvel was able to create a 20+ picture saga, DC has continually rebooted and rehashed their properties.
Gaming, however, is a different story. DC has released a number of successful games recently including the Lego Batman Series, Injustice 2, and DC Universe Online. And there are eagerly anticipated titles too like Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and DC: League of Super Pets.
And now it is time to add another hotly anticipated game to the list. During the Game Awards, Warner Bros. announced that they will be releasing an open-world Wonder Woman game which is being developed by Monolith Games. The studio described the title:
“The singleplayer open-world action game will introduce an original story set in the DC Universe and allow players to become Diana of Themyscira in the fight to unite her Amazon family and the humans from the modern world. Powered by the Nemesis System, gamers will forge deep connections with both enemies and allies as they progress from a heroic fighter into a proven leader.”
The revelation that the game will feature the Nemesis System is sure to excite many gamers. The pioneering idea allows characters that you have encountered before to remember what happened. So if you fight an enemy you’ve taken on before, they may use a different fighting style. They may also taunt you about the encounter beforehand.
The Nemesis System also affects what kind of interactions you will have with characters that are friendly to you. And each time you plug into the game the play will be changed based on the way you had played it before.
There is no website for the game yet and no announcement has been made about what consoles it will be available on.
