Eyeballistic is a studio best known for making visually stunning games. And since 2016, they’ve set their sights on making one particular game in stunning 4K HD; Mortal Kombat.

There is certainly some support for the idea. Ed Boon, who co-created the title back in 1992, apparently fully supports the remake. The property’s owner, Warner Bros., is less sure, thinking that they cannot sell enough units.

In an effort to change their minds, Eyeballistic created a petition with a goal of 100,000 signatures. The petition recently hit 15,000, and now the game maker is celebrating by releasing new footage of the game.

Developer Joe Tresca shared the footage, writing, “15K signatures to #BBMKT? Damn, you guys are amazing! I promised a little something special, and here it is. We improved Baraka’s idle too!”

Tresca later noted, “Whatever improvements we can make are probably going to be limited by the schedule WB sets for us. If they need it done in 9 months, that is just barely doable to get everything done at the same level as the original game, at least. With more time, we can do more.”

It is unclear as of yet whether Warner Bros. is going to give the game a go or not. Eyeballistic is undoubtedly working on the game as if they’ll be able to convince the publisher.
