Update: Eurogamer is reporting that Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 5 Royal will all make their way to PlayStation 5. No release date was given, indicating that these could be timed exclusives. Switch owners, I’m sorry, but no news for a possible Switch release still. At least there’s still Shin Megami Tensei!

Original Story: Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 5 Royal are heading to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and Game Pass. Today, Atlus announced the ports at the Xbox + Bethesda Showcase. Persona 5 Royal will be out this year, while 3 and 4 will be coming later.

For years, fans have clamored for Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden to be rereleased so fans of the current generation can experience old-school JRPG goodness. In 2020 Persona 4 Golden made its way to PC, but many were hoping it would make its way to consoles at some point. Thankfully, that wish is finally coming true.

Many consider Persona 3 Portable, first released on the PSP in November 2009, as the game’s definitive edition. It added a second female protagonist, new social links, a deeper narrative, and the ability to control your party members. It also features one of the best bosses in a JRPG. Atlus says the game will come with “enhanced graphics.”

Persona 4 Golden, first released for the PlayStation Vita in 2012, features the base game plus many extras. There are new events, areas, characters, and dungeons, to name a few. Persona 4 (alongside 3 and 4) are some of our favorite JRPGs.

Persona 5 Royal, like past rereleases, features a bevy of extras. This includes a new party member, story elements, and over 20 extra hours of content. It also features some of the best turn-based combat and is one of the best modern JRPGs to play. It will also include all DLC previously released for the game.

Persona 5 Royal will be out on October 21. So far, there are no release dates for Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden, but they’re expected in 2023. There has been no mention if the three games will be coming to any other consoles yet.
