The Borderlands 3: Bounty of Blood DLC has arrived and offers players the chance to get some cool new legendary weapons for their Vault Hunter. One of these is the Dowsing Rod, which is a Legendary Assault Rifle that can be farmed from Pteradomini’s in the Blastplains. In this guide, we are going to show you exactly how to farm for and get the Borderlands 3 Dowsing Rod Assault Rifle in Bounty of Blood.
Where to Find the Dowsing Rod in Borderlands 3: Bounty of Blood
To get the Borderlands 3 Dowsing Rod weapon, you’ll need to farm an enemy called the Pteradomini, which appear on a small island close to the Pump & Charge fast travel station in the Blastplains. Once you’ve reached the fast travel station, you’ll want to make your way northeast to the small isolated island area that looks like a “C.” It’s pretty easy to spot, it’s an island sitting all by itself up and to the right a little bit on your map.
To get there, you’ll need to have unlocked teleporters in the Bounty of Blood main story. You’ll find the teleporter on a ledge just south of the island, marked on the image above. If you haven’t unlocked these yet, you can still get there by jumping along some rocks. You can see what I mean in this great video from Joltzdude139, which is embedded below.
Once you get to the island, you can begin trying to farm the Borderlands 3 Dowsing Rod by killing the giant dragon-like enemy called Pteradomini. Multiple will appear, but if you kill one and the Legendary Assault Rifle isn’t dropped, you’ll need to quit the game, reload it, and try again. It should only take a few tries, and eventually, the Dowsing Rod item will be dropped. It’s also important to note that this weapon is exclusive to the Bounty of Blood DLC, so if you don’t have that, you’ll need to start there.
The stats for the Borderlands 3: Bounty of Blood Dowsing Rod will depend on the level of your Vault Hunter. However, every version of the weapon does have an alternate fire mode, which turns it into a super-powerful grenade launcher. Although explosives aside, it’s still a pretty good weapon all around. Embedded below is the video we mentioned earlier.
Bounty of Blood is the third Borderlands 3 DLC and was released on June 25. If you’re a new player, the expansion has a cool feature that allows you to create a new Vault Hunter, which will instantly be leveled up high enough to jump into Bounty of Blood. Otherwise, if you haven’t unlocked Sanctuary III yet, then you won’t be able to play it. Further, all enemies will be scaled to your level, so you don’t have to worry about facing enemies you’re not equipped to fight.
