Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters, Frontier Foundry’s highly anticipated XCOM-like Warhammer 40K game finally has a release date. The UK-based publisher announced earlier today that fans of 40K can expect the title to launch on May 5th. Even more importantly, the company revealed that none other than Andy Serkis will play a major role in the upcoming game.

Warhammer 40K: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters is a turn-based tactics game with RPG elements that gives you command over a squad of customizable Grey Knights. The Grey Knights are one of the most powerful chapters of Space Marines and they generally only come out to play when the forces of Chaos threaten the Imperium of Man. Well, when they threaten it more than usual, I should say. Which definitely seems to be the case in Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters.

According to the game’s description, the forces of Chaos are unleashing an “intergalactic cosmic plague” known as the Bloom. The Bloom is reportedly powerful enough to lay entire planets to waste and there are very few things that can stop it from spreading. Luckily, this is exactly the type of work the Grey Knights specialize in.

A Lot of Talented People Are Working on This

Your squad will be advised and aided throughout the campaign by Grand Master Vardan Kai from the Grey Knight’s base of operations on Titan. Vardan Kai is being voiced by the legendary Andy Serkis, a man who needs to introduction at this point.

“Vardan Kai is a Grand Master, he is a very authoritarian leader, and he doesn’t suffer fools,” said the actor. “He has a strong dislike for those he feels he can’t trust, and doesn’t show a lot of emotion, but throughout the game he’s building a ‘master and pupil’ relationship with the player. His personality will definitely keep players on their toes.”

Along with the big announcement, Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters also received a new trailer, complete with Andy Serkis. Check out the video down below.

Warhammer 40K: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters is now available to pre-order on Steam and the Epic Games Store for $44.99 or your regional equivalent. For an extra $10 you can grab the Castellan Champion Edition, which includes a unique new playable character and the game’s official soundtrack.

The soundtrack was composed by Doyle W. Donehoo, who also scored a number of other Warhammer 40K games, including Dawn of War 2 and Battlefleet Gothic: Armada. Meanwhile, the story is being penned by renowned Black Library author Aaron Dembski-Bowden.

In other words, we can expect a great story, great music, and great voice acting. If the gameplay ends up being up to par as well, Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters might just find a spot on our list of the best Warhammer 40K games of all time.

Between Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters, Total War: Warhammer 3, Darktide, and Blood Bowl 3, it looks like 2022 will be an amazing year for fans of Warhammer games.
