Cyberpunk 2077 Edgerunners DLC Goes Live; Phantom Liberty Announced

While Cyberpunk 2077 is still a contender for the worst video game launch ever, the developers are still working on it. And dedicated fans will be happy to know that new content is on the way. Two DLC packs were recently announced. One of them, Edgerunners, has just been released, focusing on a Netflix series based on the game. The other won’t be available until some time next year. Either way, the sheer variety of expansive content is enough reason to give Cyberpunk 2077 a second look.

Cyberpunk 2077 Edgerunners And Phantom Liberty

Following the massive success of The Witcher series, CD Projekt Red decided to pursue a totally original title in Cyberpunk 2077. It launched only to be received by a number of criticisms concerning gameplay and technical elements. Still, the developers are continuing their support.

The team released a DLC today based on Edgerunners, a Netflix show taking place in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe. The show itself is set to premiere on September 13, but the DLC is available now. The team has also released details for the Phantom Liberty DLC expected some time in 2023. Not only will players have a whole new area to explore, but will see the return of Keanu Reeves’s character Johnny Silverhand.

Unlike The Witcher, Cyberpunk 2077 goes in the opposite direction by being wholly sci-fi. As a custom character exploring a cyberpunk world filled with futuristic technology and an apocalyptic wasteland, there’s a lot for you to do. The main story revolves around investigating a supposed piece of technology which may hold the key to immortality. A mix of combat, open-world exploration, and investigation makes for a very full experience. That is, assuming you’ve updated it enough to remove all of the game-breaking bugs.

Despite the game’s messy launch, these new DLCs are enough to get players excited. While players can play the Edgerunners DLC now days before the show, they’ll have to wait to see Keanu Reeves once again in Phantom Liberty next year.
