Cyberpunk 2077 was first announced back in 2012, and in 2013, trailers for the title began to appear. Gamers couldn’t wait to get their hands on the game, which looked like a combination of Akira and Mad Max Fury Road.
Players were also excited that CD Projekt Red was the studio behind the game. The Polish developer has developed a reputation as one of the industry’s best. CD Projekt developed the Witcher, now a hit series on Netflix.
When the game finally dropped in December 2020, it landed with a thud. The title received mixed reviews from critics. They praised the quality, atmosphere, and unique story. At the same time, there were massive technical issues that were especially bad on PS4 and Xbox One consoles.
So while players enjoyed many aspects of the game, the numerous bugs made it very difficult to play. The studio promised a next-gen version, and according to reports, that could be coming soon.
The news comes via the Playstation Game Size Twitter, which shared an image, writing, “I think it’s Coming on Mid Feb – Early March [to Playstation 5].”
Back in October, CD Projekt noted that they were eager to make things right.
The company wrote in a statement, “We have an important update regarding next-generation updates of Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for consoles and PC. Based on recommendations supplied by teams supervising the development of both games, we decided to postpone their releases until 2022. Our current target for Cyberpunk 2077 is the first quarter of 2022 and second quarter of 2022 for The Witcher: Wild Hunt. Apologies for the extended wait, but we want to make it right.”
