A lot has changed from the days of the open beta, resulting in a massive shake-up on our Diablo 4 Tier List heading into Season One. Players will be looking to find a class to main when Season One launches on July 20th.
Our ranking of the Diablo classes will give you an idea of who’s viable and who is currently lacking. Blizzard has released several balance and tuning adjustments since the game’s launch. These are how we feel the classes now stand regarding their power and viability. Our Diablo 4 Tier List is presented in order from worst to best.
Sorcerer
Sorcerer mains aren’t happy with how the class is, and the upcoming patch notes indicate that help isn’t on the way. Despite their effectiveness when it comes to leveling early in the game, Sorcerers are severely lacking in terms of late-game viability.
Does this mean that the Sorcerer class is bad? No, far from it, in fact. The biggest issue is that it pales compared to every other class available in the game. They lack diversity in their late-game builds, and their effectiveness at endgame can’t hold up to the other classes. Playing may be a lot of fun, but the Sorcerer is sadly not the best Diablo 4 class.
Necromancer
Next on our Diablo 4 Tier List is the Necromancer. They have issues in terms of movement and survivability but are more than capable of dealing an impressive amount of damage.
The army of minions makes Necromancers an attractive option for solo play. However, one issue that still plagues the class is a lack of viable minion builds. For those looking to embrace the class fantasy fully, this continues to be a disappointment. Still, regarding raw power and viability, you can honestly interchange Necromancers with our next option.
Barbarian
Even with it now appearing in the middle of our Diablo 4 Tier List, the Barbarian is still one of the best Diablo 4 classes you can play. The Whirlwind build is still compelling, but one thing holding the class back is the nerfs coming in Season One. As a result, the class isn’t as powerful as it was back in the beta or even the pre-season.
Barbarian will still be really good in Diablo 4, thanks to the way the class is designed. Its fundamentals make it a strong character moving forward, but its days as the undisputed king of Diablo 4 may be over.
Rogue
Rogues have done nothing but overperform since the game’s beta. They can dish out an impressive amount of damage while combining survivability and maneuverability.
A highlight of the Rogue class is how much fun it is to play. It doesn’t suffer from the early or late game issues of other classes where it falls off or is difficult to play, making it a joy throughout the entire Diablo 4 experience.
One of the marquee builds for Rogues revolves around Twisting Blades, which allows for a wonderful combination of sustainable AOE and single-target damage. In the eyes of some, Rogue, not Druid, is the best Diablo 4 class.
Druid
We wrap up the Diablo 4 Tier List with the current best class in the game. Does it have a rough leveling experience? Yes. Does that matter in seasonal play? Not as much as you think. The goal with seasons isn’t to level up as fast as possible. More often than not, you’ll be working with friends or finding the easiest, most effective way to level up to that it’s a minor portion of the game.
At the end of the day, you can’t ignore how good Druids are at the endgame. They are far more effective than anyone else, thanks to damage and survivability, regardless of how you play the game. Much has been made regarding how powerful the class is and for good reason.
Wrapping Up
Even with the game’s first season launching, Blizzard will continue to balance and tune the game’s classes as needed. We’ll adjust these rankings as often as needed.
Diablo 4 is now available for PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
