Dragonlord Placidusax is one of the hardest Elden Ring bosses and he’s also an Elden Ring secret boss. To get to Dragonlord Placidusax’s location, you need to first unlock the Crumbling Farum Azula location. You will unlock the area as you progress into the Elden Ring story.

Dragonlord Placidusax is a four-headed dragon (though two are cut off) that uses a variety of attacks and deals a lot of damage. By reading this Dragonlord Placidusax guide, you can learn how to deal with its attacks and also how to find the dragon.

The boss will drop 280000 Runes and the Remembrance of the Dragonlord.

Dragonlord Placidusax Location

Dragonlord Placidusax’s location is nearest to the Besides The Great Bridge site of grace. The path from there is fairly straightforward. First, take the lift that you first used to reach to the grace and take a right. Just run past the enemies and go outside to the ground.

Reach the cliff just ahead with the trees. Now, look down and you will see multiple platforms leading somewhere. That is the path to Dragonlord Placidusax’s location.

Gently drop down to the cliff below and follow the path. Make sure not to jump from here because you can skip the rock and fall off. You will reach a broken platform at the end. Make your way forward and you will see a prompt saying, “Lie down”. Now you will see a short cutscene and the Dragonlord Placidusax boss fight begins.

Dragonlord Placidusax Boss Guide

The Dragonlord Placidusax boss fight won’t start right away. So, this is a good time to use any buffs. Dragonlord Placidusax’s weaknesses include fire and lightning. Additionally, you can summon spirit ashes as well. Mimic Tear and Black Knife Tiche work well against this boss.

Dragonlord Placidusax Lightning Start

Dragonlord Placidusax will start off with a lightning strike. It will roar and cause a tremble, with red sparks appearing near you. You can simply run past them, however. Get a few hits on the dragon and make your way to its tail. It will probably unleash another lighting strike three times from now on. You can run around and get a hit in-between. After that, it may do a light tail sweep. It’s easy to predict and does not deal much damage.

The tail goes up as it prepares to sweep

If you are facing Dragonlord Placidusax, it can perform a lightning claw attack with its left claw followed by a fire attack. The claw attack has a long wind-up, and you just need to roll through it. However, don’t stop to attack as it will quickly breathe fire on its side. The fire has an unexpectedly long range, so you don’t want to get caught up in that. Just run towards the tail-end and you will be fine.

Once the fire stops, you can easily get around four hits and a spell if you have it. Keep an eye out for the tail, though. Dragonlord Placidusax can also turn around and breathe fire in front of it. However, you can easily create a safe distance with a bit of running.

When Dragonlord Placidusax has lost around 40-50% health, it will curl up in the air and disappear. It will soon emerge from the dark clouds and swoop in with a claw slash. You can roll forward as it closes in. Also, lock onto the boss because it will make its following attacks easier to deal with.

Phase Two Smoke

Dragonlord Placidusax will teleport in and out a few times and use its claws to attack you in-between. If you have the auto-lock on it, you will come to know where it is going to teleport, allowing for easy dodges. If you don’t, simply run and roll back. Once it stops teleporting, go to the tail-end again and keep dealing damage.

Dragonlord Placidusax Teleport Lock

At some point, Dragonlord Placidusax will fly away and disappear soon after. It’s going to do the same swoop-in attack with a couple of differences. First, his cloud will keep going to the left for some time. The claw attack will make a lightning charge on the ground as it hits. So, you can start running to the left or right as soon as you see the cloud and roll as it swoops in. The charge has a high hit rate and deals considerable damage, but doesn’t one-shot. Keep your health full or close to it.

Second Smoke Attack

Dragonlord Placidusax will also summon a lightning strike and do the swoop-in at the same time. This can be tricky as you have to deal with two attacks. However, you can counter this by listening for the cloud. The sound of the cloud spawn is distinct and loud enough to give you a hint about Dragonlord Placidusax’s location in the air.

Placidusax’s ruin incantation

As it lands, it will breathe fire which will soon turn into lasers. They will look something like this:

Placidusax's Ruin Laser Start

This spell is called Placidusax’s Ruin and can be acquired by exchanging Dragonlord Placidusax’s Remembrance. Definitely one of the coolest dragon spells in Elden Ring. This may look intimidating but you just need to roll through the laser on the right. You can use your Flask of Wondrous Physick as a backup. Now, just wait as the laser goes to the extreme right and starts making its way to you. Remove the auto-lock from the Dragonlord and simply focus on the laser and roll through it.

Keep running circles around it and you will soon have another Elden Ring achievement.
