Sucker Punch Productions, a developer, based out of Bellevue, Washington, has been creating games since 1999. They had their first hit in 2009 with Infamous. Since then, all of the company’s releases have been eagerly anticipated. And Sucker Punch knocked it out of the park with 2020’s Ghost of Tsushima. Today, the game maker announced that they have sold over eight million copies of the game.
The developer announced via their Twitter page, “We’re thrilled and amazed that #GhostOfTsushima has officially sold more than 8 million copies! Thank you so much to everyone who has played since launch! We are so incredibly appreciative and grateful for the support!”
Upon its release, the title was critically acclaimed and was nominated for eight prizes at 2020’s Game Awards. Ghost of Tsushima took home wins for Best Art Directions and Player’s Voice.
The graphics of the game were particularly well received. And a recent Director’s Cut for Playstation 5 only improved upon them. In a 9.5 out of 10 review for Game Informer, Matt Miller wrote:
“For new players, it will extend an already lengthy adventure into something more. Meanwhile, returning players should be thrilled at how well this experience dovetails out of an already stellar game. Iki Island is what I want out of single-player game expansions. And it’s further proof (as if we needed any more at this point) that Sucker Punch has a standout new property to continue building on.”
Ghost of Tsushima is available on Playstation 4 and Playstation 5.
