A list of GoldenEye 007 Achievements has appeared via TrueAchievements. This indicates that a release of the Nintendo 64 classic may be imminent.
Wario64 on Twitter has also found Xbox Achievement pictures for GoldenEye. This leads to the belief that the title will come out soon.
This isn’t the first time GoldenEye 007 has been in the news recently. The game was recently unbanned in Germany. The announcement came alongside the unbanning of BloodRayne 1 and 2, which has remastered updates releasing early this year.
Logically, this means that GoldenEye also sees a release in 2022. The game was trademarked back in April of 2021 for use in entertainment software. Danjaq LLC, the holder of the copyrights and trademarks for the James Bond franchise, was the one to file the trademark.
There could be some speculation that the release of Goldeneye 007 is part of a deal for Rare titles such as Banjo Kazooie to appear on Nintendo Switch Online. While initially released for the Nintendo 64, Banjo Kazooie is a Microsoft-owned character. The game has also seen not one but two releases on Xbox: an Xbox Live Arcade title as well as an inclusion in Rare Replay. It’s not like Banjo Kazooie needed another release.
Maybe Nintendo and Microsoft traded Banjo for Goldeneye 007? I’m just guessing, of course, but I’m not the only one who sees this as a possibility.
