If you had a Grand Theft Auto VI leak on your Sunday morning bingo card, congratulations; you’ve won the lottery.

An alleged hack/leak for the in-development game showcases a treasure trove of screenshots, source code, assets, and videos. After receiving pushback about the validity of the footage, the hacker/leaker kept releasing images, the game’s alleged code, and nearly 100 videos. If true, the Grand Theft Auto VI leak confirms that the game will indeed take place in Vice City.

It also confirms the news that the game will have a female protagonist. Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, who helped collaborate on the previous information that mentioned the first details regarding GTA VI, chimed in on Twitter while on paternity leave.

Rockstar Games confirmed that the next installment of Grand Theft Auto is in development earlier this year. The developer released the following statement back in February:

“With the unprecedented longevity of GTAV, we know many of you have been asking us about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series. With every new project we embark on, our goal is always to significantly move beyond what we have previously delivered — and we are pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway. We look forward to sharing more as soon as we are ready, so please stay tuned to the Rockstar Newswire for official details.”

The leak’s timing is peculiar as it coincides with the ninth anniversary of the original Grand Theft Auto V release. It’s hard to believe that we’ve gone nearly a decade without the mainline release in the Grand Theft Auto franchise, but here we are.

Hopefully, these Grand Theft Auto VI leaks indicate we’re getting close to at least an official announcement and debut of the game’s footage. That said, if enough of the game’s source code is compromised, it could lead to further delays to prevent additional issues at Rockstar Games.

Update: Confirmed by Jason Schreier
