Fans have been excited about Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga since the title’s announcement back in 2019. And they’ve had to be quite patient.
Traveller’s Tales and Warner Bros. have faced many hurdles with making the game. COVID-19, of course, played a role as the pandemic has delayed many titles. TT Games also had a severe problem with workers accusing the developer of overworking them.
For now, those issues are settled. The game will officially release on April 5th, 2022.
In addition to the date reveal, a gameplay overview has also dropped. One of the most highly anticipated features of the title is that it will feature scenes from all 9 Star Wars films.
There is also a deep roster of over 300 characters. While some of these will have to be unlocked along the way, all of them will be playable, so Luke Skywalker or Rey do not necessarily have to be the story’s hero.
And while there is the main story for gamers to follow, there will also be plenty of opportunities to freelance as there is a galaxy map that expands as you visit more plants. Other news features include force powers, new attack combos depending on the character, and a new aiming system for those players using a blaster.
After the long journey in getting the game released, a spokesperson for TT Games told Polygon:
“Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, is the most ambitious title the studio has ever undertaken. The team is determined to deliver a wonderful Lego experience to our players, and we are giving the game the time it needs to deliver on that aspiration. We greatly appreciate the support and understanding from our fans.”
Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will release on Microsoft Windows, Playstation 4 and 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox X/S.
