Lies of P appears to be an upcoming addition to the Xbox Game Pass library.
Billed as a spiritual successor to Bloodborne and other FromSoftware games, the upcoming game fits the bill as a much-desired follow-up to the beloved PlayStation 4 action RPG.
This confirms an earlier tease from an industry leaker, The Snitch, who tweeted out morse code over an Xbox-green box. The morse code is lyrics from the Kayne West song “Pinnochio Story.” Many speculated that it indicates that Lies of P would be coming to Xbox Game Pass. Low and behold, they seem to be right.
Developed and published by NEOWIZ, Lies of P is inspired by the story of Pinnochio. The game’s description on Steam reads as follows:
“You wake up at an abandoned train station in Krat, a city overwhelmed by madness and bloodlust. In front of you lies a single note that reads:
“Find Mr. Geppetto. He’s here in the city.”
Play as Pinocchio, a puppet mechanoid, and fight through everything in your path to find this mystery person. But don’t expect any help along the way and don’t make the mistake of trusting anyone.”

The gameplay is heavily inspired by Soulslike games. The latest trailer debuted last November and offered the first look at in-game combat.

The video highlights the inclusion of reactive counter-attacks, unique weapon selection, and the utility of Pinocchio’s mechanical arm. NEOWIZ promises various customizable weapon combinations, attack patterns, and gameplay styles. In total, 30 basic weapon types and over 100 varieties are promised.
Modifying Pinocchio’s mechanical arm will also lead to various ways to play the game. The game seems to follow in the footsteps of Elden Ring in allowing players to experience the game as they see fit. In true Pinocchio fashion, lying is encouraged to help gain Humanity points. This will not just alter your interactions with NPCs encountered in the game but also unlock alternate endings.
Lies of P will be playable at the 2022 GamesCom show in Cologne, Germany. From August 24th through the 28th, fans can play the game in Hall 9.1, booth C-049. A new trailer is also expected, coming as early as tonight’s Opening Night Live from Geoff Keighly.
No release date is currently set for Lies of P. It is expected to release on PC, Xbox Series X|S as a Game Pass title, and PlayStation 5. It is being developed in Unreal Engine.
This is going to be a wonderful game. I also found similarities with Soulslike games.
