Smilegate has scored a big win with Lost Ark. The game, published by Amazon Games, reached nearly one million concurrent players within 24 hours of full release.

The game was so popular that its servers couldn’t keep up with demand during the first hours of gameplay. The game now follows the fifth largest Steam debut ever, behind PUBG, CS:GO, Dota 2, and Cyberpunk 2077.

The game peaked at 984,111 which was enough to beat out Amazon’s last release, New World, which still attracted an impressive 913,000 concurrent gamers.

Even before its full release Lost Ark was shaping up for a big day. The game currently holds a Metacritic score of 82% and has an 84% top critic score on OpenCritic.com (BossLevelGamer is an OC partner).

The game is likely to face some steep competition later in the month. Total War: Warhammer III drops on February 17 followed by Elden Ring on February 25.

Still, with positive critic and gamer reviews, we expect Lost Ark to stick around toward the top of the charts, at least for a little while.
