It is available now to download in the Nintendo Eshop and My Nintendo Store. You must be a member of Nintendo Switch Online to participate. If you’re not a current member, you are eligible through a seven-day free trial.

The demo for Mario Strikers: Battle League features a training mode and online sessions for people to play matches. The time slots are as follows:

  • June 3, 8-9 p.m. PT
  • June 4, 4-5 a.m. PT
  • June 4, 12-1 p.m. PT
  • June 4, 8-9 p.m. PT
  • June 5, 4-5 a.m. PT
  • June 5, 12-1 p.m. PT

Online matches for Mario Strikers: Battle League in the demo will also support cooperative play. Locally, up to two people on the same Switch system can play together. The press release indicates too that 5v5 action is available in the demo:

“With online matches for the Mario Strikers: Battle League Football First Kick demo event, players can form a team with other players and challenge competitors online. Each team will consist of players from two Nintendo Switch consoles and a maximum of two players per console. It’s possible to team up with random players and invite friends to play together online. Experiment with all 10 characters in the game, test their unique abilities and assemble a team based on your preferred playing style.”

Announced earlier this year in a Nintendo Direct, Mario Strikers: Battle League is the latest installment in the Mario Strikers franchise. It debuted on the Nintendo GameCube with Super Mario Strikers and received a sequel on the Nintendo Wii called Mario Strikers Charged. Next Level Games, also known for their work on the Luigi’s Mansion franchise, has developed all three titles.
