Microsoft Testimony Provides Elder Scrolls 6 Release Window

While many are enjoying Microsoft’s latest exclusive in Starfield, the company is still going through the necessary proceedings to complete its acquisition of Activision Blizzard. The big concern is the potential for the tech company to establish a monopoly on many well-known IPs although conditions are being drawn up to prevent such an occurrence. Even so, as part of the company’s case, they’ve revealed a schedule for many of their most notable previous and one very interesting upcoming release. It seems that Microsoft has applied a possible release date to the highly anticipated Elder Scrolls 6 which is appearing on the horizon.

Elder Scrolls 6 Release Date

The year was 2011, and so many people were eagerly awaiting the release of Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, a game where you can hunt dragons and yell at enemies so hard that they break the world. Following that, there was the release and ongoing maintenance of Elder Scrolls Online, but everyone was just waiting for the announcement of Elder Scrolls 6. The name has popped up more recently, but with no solid information on it or its release date.

However, thanks to Stephen Totilo on Twitter, Microsoft gave answers to questions that hinted at a potential release date for the Elder Scrolls sequel. The date has been tentatively written as “expected 2026 or later.”

The Elder Scrolls series is one of the most demanding in the gaming world. Looking all the way back to Morrowind, each entry has prided itself on building a vast fantasy world filled with various characters, creatures, and quests to encounter. Skyrim hyped up many and delivered on many of the claims, despite the expected bugs and technical issues. All these years later, the title has been released multiple times and others are still finding ways to transform the game in new and interesting ways. Although, this doesn’t change the fact that the community eagerly wants to move on to Elder Scrolls 6.

While Elder Scrolls Online still pulls in large numbers of players, it’s seen more as a spin-off than a direct sequel to the series. However, with Microsoft pleading its case to the Federal Trade Commission, they may have the true sequel in Elder Scrolls 6 may be expected as early as 2026… “or later.”
