During today’s Meta Quest Gaming Showcase, Polyarc and Oculus Studios announced that Moss: Book II will release on Meta Quest 2. While an official release date hasn’t been specified, expect to dive into it this summer. It was released for PlayStation VR on March 31st, 2022 to critical acclaim. It currently sits alongside Moss as one of the highest-rated VR games. If you haven’t played the first one, Moss is currently on sale for $23.99 on Occulus.
The game picks up right where the first left off after Quill, the lovable hero, has rescued her uncle, Argus. She is now being hunted by a winged tyrant in the castle where her uncle was rescued. Players will experience a journey full of triumph and heartbreak and meet old friends and new allies. However, it is up to Quill to ultimately save the world and “rise to legend.”
In the official press release for the reveal, co-founder and CEO at Polyarc Tam Armstrong said, “One of the first things we heard when we launched Moss: Book II on PlayStation VR a few weeks ago was that the Quest 2 community wanted to play it, and we’re going to deliver on that in the very near future.”
He says, “Our goal from day one has been getting the Moss franchise onto as many headsets as possible. We want all VR players to have the opportunity to experience the joy of physical interaction and power of the emotional resonance we’ve been building into the worlds we create. We’re excited to share our game with more than ten million Quest 2 players around the world this summer.”
Quest 2 allows for a deeper sense of immersion with the two-controller setup. It provides a more natural feeling as you can express yourself more freely in Quill’s world. Players can manipulate the environment, interact with Quill, and engage the weapon inventory system during battle. Moss: Book II will push the limits of the hardware. Players will be able to experience “breathtaking environments, rich storytelling, and elevated level and combat design that all together build upon the experience of the original Moss.”
