During today’s Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase, Blizzard revealed the fifth and final class for Diablo IV: the Necromancer.

The Necromancer joins the Barbarian, Sorceress, Druid, and Rogue as playable classes for Diablo IV. Each class will have customization available for players in-game.

Blizzard also gave us a look at some gameplay for the upcoming game.

The developer showcase features all classes in action, not just the Necromancer. Plans for the endgame were also detailed, including PVP zones, dungeons, and the open world.

Blizzard developers hinted that you could take enemy territories and convert them into friendly towns or dungeons as you progress through the open world. In total, 150 dungeons are planned for Diablo IV.

An opt-in for the Diablo IV beta went live recently on the game’s website. The game is slated for a 2023 release. You’ll be able to play the necromancer and the game’s other four classes soon.

The gameplay showcase mentions Xbox consoles and PC. The game’s website still lists PlayStation consoles. Specifically, it should be noted that the listed consoles are Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. It seems like plans for an Xbox One and PS4 release have been scrapped.

Update: A press release from Blizzard confirms that it is coming to PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, and PS4. Cross-play and cross-progression will be included.

Here’s to hoping that Diablo IV is an improvement over the recently released Diablo Immortal. Here’s what we thought of the mobile spin-off for the popular franchise:

“On face level, Diablo Immortal is a fantastic game and one of the best mobile titles of all time. The core gameplay is what you’d expect from the franchise and is an all-around good time. Having said that, the monetization of the game is predatory, scummy, manipulative, and off-putting.”
