The summer of gaming is far from over, as the Nintendo Direct for June 2023 reveals what’s coming for the Nintendo Switch this year and beyond.

We kick off the showcase with the first DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Titled The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, gameplay details the new characters we’ll encounter, new Pokémon to discover, and the story that awaits us. We’re also treated to a preview of a battle area where trainers can battle. There’s a lot to look forward to here, but the question remains: can Nintendo atone for the flaws and hiccups of Scarlet and Violet? DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will release in the Fall and Winter of 2023.

That’s not all the Pokémon news, though! Detective Pikachu is back in a new adventure. Detective Pikachu Returns reunites Tim and Pikachu when they return to Nintendo Switch on October 6th, 2023.

Nintendo Direct June 2023 Brings Back A Beloved Nintendo Classic

Super Mario RPG, a beloved Super Nintendo classic, is coming to Nintendo Switch on November 17th, 2023. That’s not all the Mario news, though; Princess Peach is getting her own game in the future, but for now, that’s all Nintendo is willing to tease.

But wait; there’s more! A remake of Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, initially for the Nintendo 3DS, is coming in 2024 for the Nintendo Switch.

Leading into the release of Pikmin 4, Nintendo lets us know what to expect from the game. Players can venture out at night for the first time in the franchise. As you’d expect, enemies are stronger, so you’ll have to be on your toes. Nintendo reveals additional details, such as new gameplay modes, to help hype players leading into the release.

In honor of the Pikmin 4 release, the first two Pikmin games will see their HD versions launching in the Nintendo eShop today.

Mario Kart fans, Wave 5 of the Booster Course Pass DLC is announced. Squeaky Clean Sprint is a new course that headlines the DLC. Petey Piranha, Wiggler, and Kamek are also being added as playable drivers. The DLC will be available this summer. No further courses have been announced yet, but news should be expected shortly.

After his recent debut on Nintendo Switch, Wario is back with another WarioWare outing. A new batch of microgames is coming, complete with local co-op and a competitive party mode. Over 200 microgames are promised in WarioWare Move It! coming November 3rd.

One More Thing…

The Nintendo Direct for June 2023 ends with a new 2D Mario game. After the success of Super Mario Odyssey, many fans wondered where the franchise would go. The answer to that question is the 2D space, but it looks like Nintendo is bringing some creative and unique ideas from Odyssey.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder looks like the traditional 2D Mario experience you know and love, complete with more innovation than the New Super Mario Bros. games. It’s also coming sooner than we may have thought: Super Mario Bros. Wonder releases on Nintendo Switch on October 20th.
