Overwatch 2 Support Tier List – Which Support Heroes To Play? (November 2022)

Are you looking for a support hero that can help you climb up the ranks in Overwatch 2? You’re at the right place. Check out our Overwatch 2 tier list for support heroes to see which ones make a good choice in the current meta.

Below you can find the support heroes categorized based on their performance in the current meta of Overwatch 2. Many factors affect hero strength, and it’s impossible to create a guide to capture them all. You must consider your team composition, game mode, map, and many external factors to determine the ideal hero.

Therefore, treat this list as a general guide rather than a rulebook.

Well, let’s dive in. Before that, don’t forget to check our coverage of Overwatch 2. We’ve discussed a tank tier list for Overwatch 2, a DPS tier list for Overwatch 2 heroes, and a ranking of every hero in Overwatch 2

Overwatch 2 Support Heroes Tier List

Here’s the list. You can check out our reasoning for each hero below.

  • S-Tier: Kiriko, Lucio
  • A-Tier: Ana, Mercy
  • B-Tier: Moira, Baptiste
  • C-Tier: Brigitte, Zenyatta
  • D-Tier: –

S-Tier Overwatch 2 Support Heroes

Kiriko

Most of the time, new heroes in games are overpowered. This surely applies to Kiriko and Sojourn in Overwatch 2, too.

Kiriko is an all-around support hero that lacks a bit on the healing front, which is perfectly normal given her overall strength. After all, she can make up for it by using her Protection Suzu, which both heals allies and makes them invulnerable.

Mobility is the current meta in Overwatch 2. It’s also certainly a strong suit of Kiriko.

She can climb walls with her passive ability and teleport to an ally, even from behind a wall. Moreover, her ultimate ability, Kitsune Rush, can mobilize and empower all her allies thanks to its movement speed and rate of fire buffs.

It would be a shame not to place Kiriko in the highest tier in our Overwatch 2 support tier list, as she has it all.

Lucio

Catch him if you can! Lucio is a great healer who also happens to be quite the duelist.

With his Soundwave, Lucio can take on dangerous assassins such as Tracer or Genji, who are among the strongest DPS heroes of the current meta.

Given that the 5v5 format relies heavily on mobility, Lucio’s ability to speed up is more important than ever, which makes him a perfect choice.

Some might argue that Lucio is vulnerable against hitscan heroes such as Widowmaker and Ashe, especially given their strength. However, a good Lucio can easily render them useless as he can effectively wall-ride, which makes him a hard target to hit.

Overwatch 2 Support Heroes: A-Tier

Ana

Ana is one of the strongest all-around supports out there, with her ability to burst heal and stop assassins in the act.

She has great healing ability thanks to her Biotic Rifle, which can give a good amount of healing to allies quickly. However, Ana might have difficulty finding her teammates when healing with the Biotic Rifle. This is where her Biotic Grenade comes into play to heal an area, which makes it easier for Ana to help multiple allies at once.

Moreover, Ana’s Sleep Dart is a game-changer when used correctly. As you know, damage heroes like Tracer and Genji pose a big threat to their enemies. The danger is even bigger when Genji has his ultimate ability on. Ana can easily stop them all with Sleep Dart.

Her ultimate Nano Boost is another thing to talk about, as it can be deadly when combined with heroes that can deal significant damage on the frontline. It also reduces the vulnerability of DPS heroes, which can be a great advantage for Ana’s team.

To put it shortly, Ana excels in every area, which is why she gets this high on our tier list. One could even argue that she should be on the S-Tier. However, you need excellent team communication to make the most out of her. What do you think?

Mercy

Mercy has always been a great choice when it comes to healing. She can easily provide consistent healing to her teammates. With the transition to the 5v5 format, Mercy is even stronger, as she can only boost one teammate at once.

Even though she’s a great healer, Mercy has a big downside that makes her highly situational. She’s so vulnerable to enemies.

It’s quite difficult not to get yourself killed while playing Mercy. You need to follow a team strategy to protect her from deadly assassins, which requires good team communication.

You can also try to pocket a Pharah, as it gives you high ground, which makes you harder to hit. Pharmercy is still a relevant strategy, after all. However, Mercy would still be vulnerable against snipers in that case.

In a nutshell, Mercy is a great healer when she gets enough protection. If you can provide that one way or another, go for her.

B-Tier Overwatch 2 Supports

Moira

Moira seems like a superb all-around support at first glance. She has great damage, can constantly heal her allies, and use her Fade to flee when necessary. Quite a solid pick, right?

Of course. But you need to keep some key points in mind to excel with Moira.

Though she is highly versatile and strong in all aspects, you need perfect judgment to play this hero effectively.

It can prove quite costly if you make a wrong decision at the wrong time, such as choosing the wrong orb or using Fade at the wrong time. Other heroes can generally make up for their mistakes, but you must be much more careful with Moira.

This is why she is in the B-Tier despite her unarguable strength and versatility.

Baptiste

You cannot go wrong with Baptiste, as he has great healing potential.

His healing is more than enough, especially in packed team fights. He can use his Exo Boosts ability to get to a higher vantage point, which helps Baptiste heal more allies with a wider point of view.

He does not need to be far away from the battlefield to help his friends, though. Baptiste’s Immortality Field is a game-changer to keep allies alive in a critical situation. Combine it with his Regenerative Burst, and see a wounded team rise from the ashes.

On top of all that, Baptiste’s damage potential is also on point with his gun. It isn’t too deadly, but hey, we’re talking about a healer here.

The most prominent reason Baptiste isn’t higher on the list is his ultimate ability. Although the Ampflication Matrix isn’t inherently useless, it’s highly situational. It needs very specific locations or scenarios to be utilized well.

C-Tier for Overwatch Support Heroes

Brigitte

Although Brigitte is meant to be played as a frontline hero, she is not durable enough to withstand the damage. However, she can effectively counter assassins in short-range with her ability to knockback and damage.

Brigitte might be a great choice to deal with the annoying DPS heroes of the enemy, but it doesn’t make her a particularly good support hero. That’s primarily because Brigitte lacks when it comes to healing. However, she’s better in that aspect now, thanks to the 5v5 format, in which she has fewer allies to heal.

To sum up, Brigitte is a situational support hero. She can be a great choice if you have a strategy built around her, like playing with close-range DPS heroes. Otherwise, you have better options in most cases.

Zenyatta

Zenyatta has consistent healing to his allies and consistent debuff to his enemies, which creates the basis of his skill set.

Although he can perpetually heal, Zenyatta’s orbs are not powerful enough to save his allies sometimes. On top of that, he is quite vulnerable against flankers, given the lack of his mobility. Nevertheless, his melee attacks deal much more damage and now have a huge knockback effect. This makes him better but isn’t enough to compensate for Zenyatta’s lack of mobility.

In the end, Zenyatta’s ultimate ability keeps him relevant. Transcendence can change the fate of any fight in the most unexpected moment if used correctly, so Zenyatta can still pose a threat to his enemies.

As it’s only his ultimate that matters at this point, Zenyatta gets his place in the C-Tier of our Overwatch 2 support tier list.
