To keep safe while you set up the surveillance equipment, you’ll need to find a way to ward off the ghosts to ensure your safety, this is where Smudge Sticks come in. How to Use Smudge Sticks in Phasmophobia
To use Smudge Sticks in Phasmophobia, you need a stick and a lighter. When that’s taken care of, grab your lighter and ignite the flame then put it into one of your item slots. From there, place the Smudge Stick in your character’s hand and use the secondary button (defaulted to F) to light the Smudge Stick in your hand.
Alternatively, you can also light a Smudge Stick by placing it on the ground and using the lighter. Then simply place the lighter in your inventory and pick up the stick. Either way will work and both will temporarily ward off the ghosts.
It’s also worth noting that Smudge Sticks can only be used once, and once they burn out, they cannot be relit. We don’t have the exact usage time, but it seems they last for a short period of time before they burn out. So you may want to have a few on hand.
It’s also worth noting that you can unequip the Smudge Stick while it’s burning to use other items. This will allow you to multitask if you’re going into an area that heavily infested with ghosts. Just make sure you’re being careful, cuz if it burns out you might be in trouble!
