The next Nintendo 64 title for Nintendo Switch Online has been announced. Pilotwings 64 will be available on October 13th.

One of two launch titles for the N64 console, Pilotwings 64, was originally released in North America on September 29th,1996. It understandably saw less buzz than the other Nintendo 64 launch game: Super Mario 64

Co-developed by Nintendo EAD, the Nintendo R&D3 team, and Paradigm Simulation, Pilotwings 64 is a flight simulator that combines casual flying with objective-based obstacle courses. As players attempt missions to earn licenses, the objectives become progressively more challenging.

While the game was well received at launch, many critiqued the game’s relaxed nature. In what may or may not be an answer to that, the Pilotwings 64 trailer for Nintendo Switch Online features smooth jazz and a, well, very sexy narration.

I am 100% serious, by the way.

This trailer truly needs to be seen to be believed. In a way, it mas me super excited to play the game next week.

Pilotwings is one of several games recently announced by Nintendo for the Nintendo 64 library on Nintendo Switch Online. Last month’s Nintendo Direct saw nine games planned for release. Pilotwings 64, Mario Party, and Mario Party 2 will be released in 2022. 2023 will see Pokémon Stadium, Pokémon Stadium 2, 1080 Snowboarding, and Excitebike 64.

GoldenEye 007 was also announced and is “coming soon” with online multiplayer exclusive to Nintendo Switch. An Xbox Series X|S release is also planned, complete with a smoother framerate and 4K resolution.
