Want to know the biggest Nintendo launch of all time? There should be no surprise here: it’s the newest Pokémon games for Nintendo Switch.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have already sold a whopping 10 million copies in just three days. The sales figures, provided by Nintendo in a press release, account for both physical and downloadable versions.
Scarlet and Violet are inspired by January 2022’s Pokémon Legends: Arceus. The latest Pokémon adventure brings players to the open world of the Paldea region. The game’s story and progression can be tackled in a non-linear manner, a first for the franchise.
Features you’d expect from a Pokémon game are still here, too. Gym Battles, trading, filling your Pokedex, and exploring a new world are all waiting for players, but it’s not been a perfect experience.
Fans have complained about poor framerate and technical issues for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Aside from poor visuals and resolution, one chief complaint has been a choppy, at best, framerate when exploring in the open world.
One current fix is for players to reset the game after leaving a major town. Still, that doesn’t fix the numerous bugs and graphical hiccups that are being reported.
A patch was made available for launch day to alleviate some of the game’s issues, but it hasn’t fully fixed them. Nintendo did not mention in the press release a future patch for Scarlet and Violet’s bugs.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are available now for the Nintendo Switch.
