Resident Evil 4 Remake Demo Mods Are Getting Wild

Remakes can go both ways when announced, but when it comes to popular games, they’ll likely be more well-received. That’s what the Resident Evil 4 remake demo had going for it when it was released last week. Since then, it has stoked the fires of the modding community. In fact, some players have already gone to town creating a variety of gameplay and aesthetic mods. Whether or not the remake will be as successful as the original won’t change the fact that players are already excited to play with it, in one way or another. And going by the looks of these mods, fans are certainly stoked.

Resident Evil 4 Remake Mods

In 2005, the Resident Evil series got what many consider the best entry in the series, Resident Evil 4. It was effective as a survival horror game as well as an entry point for those unfamiliar with the series. Considering this, a remake for the game is in the works, with the demo recently released on March 9.

As noticed by Eurogamer, modders have taken to demo instantly, working their magic in a number of ways. Though it is only a demo, these mod creators have been able to whip together some pretty impressive content. Current mods include extending the Village fight sequence, playing as Vergil from Devil May Cry, and replacing your gun and knife with a banana and spoon, respectively.

The story and gameplay of Resident Evil had a lot of fluctuation before the recipe was refined with Resident Evil 4. The game follows returning hero Leon Kennedy, sent to a remote part of Spainto rescue the President’s daughter Ashley. He roams remote villages where citizens have been infected with mutating parasites under the guidance of a creepy religious order. It’s scary, challenging, a great introduction, and with memorable enemies and bosses.

Resident Evil 4 became one of Capcom’s shining stars, and many players are excited to revisit it. There’s clear proof in the fact that the demo for the Resident Evil 4 remake is not even a week old and already the modders are having a field day with it.
