Nearly a decade after its original release, Skyrim is getting yet another remaster. Today, developer Bethesda announced Skyrim Anniversary Edition, with plenty of new features to celebrate the beloved RPG’s tenth birthday. Skyrim Anniversary Edition New Features and Release Date
Fittingly, Skyrim Anniversary Edition will land on November 11, 2021. It’ll be exactly ten years to the day when the game first came out in 2011. It’ll launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, with next-gen consoles accessible via backwards compatibility.
The good news is that if you already own the Skyrim Special Edition that released in 2016, you won’t have to spend more to play on your PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S. The bad news is there’s no dedicated next-gen version, and no graphical upgrades either. Instead, this Anniversary Edition is geared around adding even more new content to a game that already lasts hundreds of hours.
Among the new content is over 500 additions from the Skyrim Creation Club. This is a Bethesda-run development community of semi-professional developers who create exclusive add-on content for Skyrim and Fallout 4. Key Creation Club releases like quests, weapons, enemies and bosses will be added to the base game with this new edition. On top of that, Bethesda promise new skills, meaning you can further hone your character to your ideal play style.
One more playful addition to Skyrim is a fully-realized fishing mechanic. You’ll be able to fish in local rivers or streams, and sell your catches to boost your income. It’ll surely be a nice and relaxing break from dungeon-crawling and dragon slaying.
