Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, from Warner Bros. and Rocksteady Games, was one of the most anticipated titles of 2022. But now, it will be one of the most anticipated titles of 2023 as the release date has been pushed back.

Since the day Fantastic Four 1 was released in November of 1961, Marvel and DC have been locked in a battle for comic book supremacy. DC, of course, has iconic characters like Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. But Marvel seems to have a much better idea of presenting their characters in movies and TV shows.

In an effort to catch up to Marvel’s cinematic success, DC hired away one of their top directors, James Gunn, to make a Suicide Squad film for them. The ploy seemed to work. The Suicide Squad movie Gunn made was a hit, spawning a new HBO Max show, Peacemaker, starring John Cena.

Piggybacking off that success, DC also went to work on a game to capitalize on the interest in the property. And this was a big one. The game would feature the anti-heroes of the Suicide Squad attempting to kill the most prominent characters of the DC Universe. This includes Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and The Flash. In the game, the league members have been possessed by Brainiac, and the Suicide Squad must put them down.

But gamers will now have to wait to play the title until 2023. Warner Bros. and Rocksteady have realized that they need a little more time to put the finishing touches on the game. The choice is most likely a good one. Better to release a complete game late rather than a rushed game on time.
