Terraria Deer Thing - How to Summon Deerclops

Terraria is one of those games that’s always added new content. Even after the developers said they were done adding content to the game, they had one final surprise. That surprise turned out to be a collaboration with the game Don’t Starve Together, which added a fearsome new boss: the Deerclops. However, you can’t simply walk up and fight the beast. Instead, you need to summon it. And for that, you need to get your hands on the Deer Thing.

How to Get the Deer Thing in Terraria

Like other bosses in Terraria, you’ll need to summon the Deerclops before you can start the fight. This is done by using the right item in the right location. The item you need to summon the Deerclops is called the Deer Thing. And since this this beast is a pre-hard mode boss, it’s easy to find all the items required to craft its summon item.

To craft the Deer Thing, you need three Flinx Fur, a single Lens, and five of either Crimtane Ore or Demonite Ore. If you have the Crimtane Ore already, you can use a Crimson Altar to craft it. On the flip side, if you have five Demonite Ore, you can use the Demon Altar to craft it.

With the Deer Thing in your inventory, you can now summon the Deerclops. If you want to summon the boss, make your way to a snow or ice biome. If you use the Deer Thing in any other biome, it simply won’t work. Otherwise, you can use this summoning item at any time during the day. Once you do that, it’s all a matter of taking down the Deerclops.

Once you take down the fearsome beast, you’re going to receive some serious loot. Killing the Deerclops will drop 5-15 healing potions, an Eye bone, an Eye-brella, and a Radio Thing. All of these items will drop at a 33% rate, meaning if you want them, all you’re going to have to do some grinding.

However, the Deerclops will drop one of four special items each time you kill it: either the Pewmatic Horn, Weather Pain, Houndious Shootious, or Lucy the Axe. If you want these items, you’re going to have to take down the Deerclops at least four times.
