Total War: Warhammer 3 was already looking to be the most ambitious entry in the series, with seven playable factions to choose from at launch. That would have been plenty for most games. But Creative Assembly went ahead and just announced an eight one, the Daemons of Chaos.
Total War: Warhammer 3 will feature four factions revolving around the Chaos Lords Khorne, Nurgle, Tzeentch, and Slaanesh. Just as its name indicates, this new faction is also all about demons but it’s a bit more special than the other ones. Instead of being dedicated to a single deity, the Daemons of Chaos faction combines units and abilities pertaining to all of them.
Chaos Undivided
Players controlling the Daemons of Chaos can literally mix and match units from any of the other four factions. We already have a handful of Legendary Lords in Warhammer 2 that can boost their armies with units from other factions, but this takes things to a whole different level.
Leading the unique faction is an equally unique Legendary Lord known simply as the Daemon Prince. The Daemon Prince used to be a human prince, of Kislev, before betraying his people and their god, Ursun. The story of Total War: Warhammer 3 will apparently revolve quite heavily around this character.
But what makes the Daemon Prince truly unique is the customization. Players will get access to an RPG-like character creation menu where they can modify the appearance of the lord to their liking. This includes choosing his head, torso, limbs, tail, weapons, and more. Creative Assembly claims there are billions of possible combinations to allow every player to create a truly unique Daemon Prince.
The new playable faction along with the Daemon Prince were recently showcased in a new trailer. Check it out below.
Total War: Warhammer 2 is currently our favorite Warhammer Fantasy game of all time but it looks like that could change once the sequel drops.
Total War: Warhammer 3 launches on February 17th on Steam, PC Game Pass, and the Epic Games Store.
